Ambrosia (Fruit Salad)

As Rives said to me:

I think the key is that you shouldn't have any ingredients left in any can, bag or tub: buy and combine. Serve. Done.

1 container (8-ounce) frozen whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
2-1/2 cups (1 8-ounce bag) sweetened shredded coconut
1 can (8 ounces) fruit cocktail, drained 
1 can (8 ounces) pineapple chunks, drained
1 small can (11 ounces) mandarin orange segments, drained
3 cups (1/2 bag) miniature marshmallows
1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries, drained
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients together. Mix together well and refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes. Enjoy! 

Note: if you want the coconut to taste more pineappley or orangey, soak the coconut in the pineapple or mandarin orange juices.
